It’s that time of year again – when the TV channels get into the festive spirit with some holiday season inspired idents. In case you are interested, here’s my post on last year’s festive idents.
TV One: As can be identified from their website, they have gone for the traditional pohutukawa emblem as a sign of the holiday season. A screenshot of the website is below for reference (click for a bigger version):
TV2: As they have done in previous years, they’ve gone with the Christmas lights approach. A note of interest, however: this year, the TV2 watermark animates when it appears on screen, and then fades out to an actual watermark. Nice touch.
As far as I can tell, TV3 and FOUR haven’t gotten into the Christmas spirit yet – will keep you posted.

I just want the Christmas-New Year television period to be over so we can get back into the swing of things. Even U Live is taking a break, so from the 24th of December – 7th of January it will be called UnLive and feature prerecorded links and music video set lists.
From what I’ve read on Throng the new season beginning in February across the channels looks to be interesting. Although I probably won’t be watching much on New Zealand television and getting my fix through “other means”.
This includes new episodes of “The Walking Dead”, “Desperate Housewives”, “Modern Family”, “Two and a Half Men”, “The Office”, “How I Met Your Mother” and of course FOX’s Animation Domination lineup. I’m really looking forward to seeing new shows “Napoleon Dynamite” and “The River”.
Any other shows premiering next year that appear to be decent? Also are you a regular reader of Chris Philipott’s television blog on Stuff? He’s quite interesting. You could get some update ideas from him.
I personally love the festive season on TV, although it does become tiresome when you get repeats of the same old Christmas movies and whatnot – not exactly refreshing!
Looking forward to new series Work It (TV2) and Awake (TV3) along with Desperate Housewives, The Middle, How I Met Your Mother, Glee and so many others. 2012 looks to be an awesome year for TV!
Nah, haven’t seen his updates but sounds good! I’m a very frequent reader of Stuff, so I’ll be sure to check him out.
