Thanks again to Josh on Facebook for the tip-off!
A brand new channel, Choice TV, is set to launch this April on Freeview HD. It is currently proposed to sit at either channel 12 or 13 on the platform, and is operated in part by Top Shelf Productions (who, interestingly enough, produce Media7 for TVNZ 7 – potential new home if TVNZ 7 can’t continue?).
Providing a variety of lifestyle and entertainment programming, Top Shelf have also formed a business relationship with RTL Festival, who will provide international content including the Cannes Film Festival in May of this year.
Sounds very interesting! Keep your eyes peeled for the launch on Freeview HD.
Needs to be on Satellite
too
I’m assuming it’s a cost factor that is causing it to launch on terrestrial first.
I am sure they will broadcast on both platforms by the end of the year, Suppose they need some revenue to broadcast, Won’t be long though as Topshelf sells shows from NZ to overseas broadcasters too.
Satellite costs around $750k per year
